The nearly 100-year old organization of New York City journalists who put on annual must-see musical political roast, the Inner Circle Show, rebutted by the Mayor.
Every year, for one night in the Spring, New York’s business, media and political worlds put aside their differences to mingle for an evening of fun. Since 1923, the Inner Circle, a charitable organization of local NYC journalists, has come together for an annual satirical performance that roasts the current NYC mayor and pokes fun at local, state, and national politics. In 2020, the show will be hosted by the historic Ziegfeld Ballroom for the first time.
After the journalists' two-act performance, the mayor offers his own take on the political scene. It was on the Inner Circle stage that David Dinkins rode on horseback, Rudy Giuliani showed a different side as "Rudyia" and Michael Bloomberg soared across the ballroom. Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton, Eli Manning, and Caroline Kennedy, to name a few, have made appearances over the years. The Inner Circle is where the world first saw Donald Trump bury his head in Rudy Giuliani's drag-clad bosom. Little did the crowd know the clip would appear one day on a loop on cable news, as the two found themselves in the spotlight together for... different reasons. Who knows what future international incidents will be predicted by this year's show?
